    Get PDF
Most sectors today, such as industries, banking, travel, education, and government, are moving towards the web as an improvement and enhancement to their businesses and services. Dynamic websites, which are considered as one type of web applications, should follow systematic and sound software development methodology to achieve quality and standard of the product. However, previous studies have revealed that many websites which are available on the Internet do not fulfil the quality requirements to be considered as a successful quality website. This study investigates the current issues in dynamic website development including the methodology, quality attribute, and the process for dynamic website development in order to achieve quality website. This work also determines factors that motivate developers to follow sound methodology in developing the dynamic websites and the barriers of not following one. Lastly, this paper presents the development of the software process model for dynamic website development that aim is to ensure the quality of the website as a good software product. The proposed model is developed based on findings from the empirical study conducted that involves software developers and practitioners as the respondents

Filter-wrapper based feature ranking technique for dynamic software quality attributes

    Get PDF
This article presents a filter-wrapper based feature ranking technique that is able to learn and rank quality attributes according to new cases of software quality assessment data. The proposed feature ranking technique consists of a scoring method named Most Priority of Feature (MPF) and a learning algorithm to learn the software quality attribute weights. The existing ranking techniques do not address the issue of redundancy in ranking the software quality attributes. Our proposed technique resolves the redundancy issue by using classifiers to choose attributes that shows high classification accuracy. Experimental result indicates that our technique outperforms other similar technique and correlates better with human experts

Intelligent software quality model: The theoretical framework

Globally, software quality issues has increasingly been seen as a common strategic response for achieving competitiveness in business. It has been seen very important as the usage of software become very demanding.Software quality includes quality control tests, quality assurance and quality management.Currently, software quality models available were built based on static measurements of attributes and measures.Previous study has indicated that to ensure the quality of software meets the future requirements and needs, the new dynamic and intelligent software quality model has to be developed. This paper discusses the development of intelligent software quality model based on behavioral and human perspectives approach which enhances from Pragmatic Quality Factor (PQF) model as a benchmark of the quality assessment

Software Certification Modeling: From Technical to User Centric Approach

Abstract: One of the most essential issues in software products is to maintain it relevancy to the dynamics of the user's needs. Many researches and studies have been carried out in quality aspect of software products to overcome these problems. Several software quality assessment models and metrics have been introduced with strengths and limitations. The current quality models such as McCall, Boehm, ISO9126, Sistemic and PQF model are used as the benchmark for product assessment. In order to enhance the assurance and buoyancy of the software products, certification process and models have been introduced and developed. Previous fundamental and basic software certification models such as SCM-Prod and SPAC were developed to solve the uncertainties in software quality in two views which are the end product and the development process. However, the models are based on specific requirements and have certain limitations. SCM-Prod model focuses on the certification and quality requirements of software products in general. While SPAC model focuses on software certification based on development process approach. Our previous experiences in conducting certification exercises and case studies collaborating with several agencies in Malaysia, the requirements for user based software certification approach is needed and demanded. The emergence of social network applications and other varieties of software in the market has led to the domination of users over the software. As software become more accessible to the public through internet applications, users are becoming more critical in the quality of the services provided by the software. Users should be able to assess and certify their own products within their own environment at anytime and anywhere. The quality attributes for software assessment should be based on user's perspective and view. This new paradigm should the alternative focus in software product quality assessment and certification. This paper presents the evolution of software certification and assessment from technical view to user centric approach. It discusses the concept of user centric approach in software assessment and certification which also focuses on the design and development of the model (ucSoftC), the components and attributes embedded in this model. The development is believed to be beneficial and valuable to overcome the constraints and improve the application of software certification model in future

A systematic mapping study of performance analysis and modelling of cloud systems and applications

Cloud computing is a paradigm that uses utility-driven models in providing dynamic services to clients at all levels. Performance analysis and modelling is essential because of service level agreement guarantees. Studies on performance analysis and modelling are increasing in a productive manner on the cloud landscape on issues like virtual machines and data storage. The objective of this study is to conduct a systematic mapping study of performance analysis and modelling of cloud systems and applications. A systematic mapping study is useful in visualization and summarizing the research carried in an area of interest. The systematic study provided an overview of studies on this subject by using a structure, based on categorization. The results are presented in terms of research such as evaluation and solution, and contribution such as tools and method utilized. The results showed that there were more discussions on optimization in relation to tool, method and process with 6.42%, 14.29% and 7.62% respectively. In addition, analysis based on designs in terms of model had 14.29% and publication relating to optimization in terms of evaluation research had 9.77%, validation 7.52%, experience 3.01%, and solution 10.51%. Research gaps were identified and should motivate researchers in pursuing further research direction

Comparison of quantitative and qualitative methods of e-commerce websites evaluation

This research paper aims at comparing both quantitative and qualitative methods in evaluating web sites. The purpose is to identify the various methods and factors that have been used to perform the evaluation. Analysis in terms of popularity of methods and ranking of factors are presented. The research serves as an initial study to explore various measurements that have been found in past literatures. The result provides useful information to those who are doing research in this field and related areas

Evaluating open source software using the selection criteria and analytical hierarchy process.

    Get PDF
There are many potential and good open source software (OSS) products available in the market with free license. However, with various choices, the adoption rate is still low among OSS potential users because there is not an agreed acceptable set of criteria to evaluate and decide varieties of OSS products, with little documentation and user manuals, and immature products. Therefore, the users need to consider on how to improve decision making on selecting the most suitable OSS products. In this paper, the background research on the proposed OSS adoption and criteria of selection are discussed and explored which then moves to the implementation of the My Open Source Software Toolkit (MyOSST) v1.0. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was applied for selecting the most suitable OSS products and assisting the potential user for deciding the OSS products based on their preferred selection criteria. The toolkit will support the OSS adoption process with proposed criteria selection and pair wise comparison. The toolkit was tested and validated by IT professionals capable to assist the decision making on selecting an appropriate OSS product

The consumer of B2C business plays a significant role in sustaining B2C business companies. However, many companies neglect to incorporate consumers need in their websites developments, resulting unachieved business objectives.Companies must identify consumers’ factors in their websites developments so that the B2C websites receive higher hits. This study aims to investigate and identify the B2C quality factors from the consumers’ perspective, to rank these factors according to their importance, and to categorize these factors into meaningful groups.Methodology from three phases has been conducted to achieve the objectives. These phases include identification, ranking, and categorization of factors. Data was gathered from the literature and analyzed using SPSS. Simple descriptive statistics such as mean and frequency were used to rank the quality factors. In addition, factor analysis was used to categorize the quality factors. Seventeen quality factors were found to be important from the consumers’ perspective. The seventeen quality factors were further categorized into three groups: E-usage, E-information, and E- services. These categories will be used to construct quality evaluation framework in the next stage of the study
